Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most influential figures in the US Civil Rights movement who advocated for racial and economic justice. He also was and still is the youngest man ever to win a Nobel Peace Prize.

In memory of his legacy, check out some of his published works that document the rise of the Civil Rights Movement:

Virtual Martin Luther King Jr. Walk:

Join the Kirksville Martin Luther King Jr. citywide committee by participating in the 2021 Virtual Martin Luther King Jr. Walk

Date:

Anytime between January 16 - 18, 2021


Distance:

A mile in your neighborhood, on campus or any safe walking path or trail

SIGN-MAKING EVENT:

Materials will be provided to make signs for the walk
Where: Down Under 1101 in the Student Union
When: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Registration and Reminders:

  • The event is free but you’re requested to take and submit a photo of your journey
  • Follow COVID-19 safety protocols (maintain six-feet of distance, wear a mask, etc.
  • Make and carry a creative sign that answers the following question: I Walk in the Steps of Martin Luther King Jr. to show ______?
  • Post a picture of you, your friends, your family to the hashtag #youbelongherekv
